Exemption

This query is : Resolved

02 February 2021 Hello Sir,

Please clarify, I had got an exemption in One paper in Nov 2019 attempt and i got one Paper Exemption in Nov 2020 attempt. Can i take both the exemptions to May 2021 attempt or any one.

07 July 2024 As per the rules of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), exemptions in CA exams are typically valid for three consecutive attempts. Here’s how it generally works:

1. **Exemption Validity:** Exemptions earned in CA exams are usually valid for the next three consecutive attempts, including the attempt in which the exemption was granted.

2. **Applying Exemptions:** If you received an exemption in a particular paper in the November 2019 attempt and another exemption in a different paper in the November 2020 attempt, both exemptions should be applicable for the May 2021 attempt. This means you can carry forward both exemptions and apply for the papers you were exempted from in your upcoming attempt.

3. **Using Exemptions:** You have the option to use these exemptions selectively. You can choose to appear for the papers you were exempted from in either attempt (November 2019 or November 2020) in the May 2021 attempt.

4. **Verification:** It's advisable to verify the specific details regarding your exemptions and their applicability in the next attempt by checking with ICAI’s official notifications or contacting your regional office for clarification.

In summary, you should be able to apply both exemptions in the May 2021 attempt for the respective papers you were exempted from in November 2019 and November 2020.
