excise registration is mandatory or not (urgent)

sir,
My turnover upto 28th February 2011 is Rs.80 Lacs and my items are covered in 130 items list. My query is that :
1) Whether it is mandatory for me to take registration under Central Excise or not.
2) If it is mandatory for me, then on what sales figure I have to charge 1% as excise duty.
3) What will be the status of SSI exemption which is available upto 150 Lacs sales.

You may check if your item is covered under SSI general exemption upto 150 lacs;
If so, you need not get registered till turnover of 135 Lacs is reached;
If so, you need not get registered till turnover of 135 Lacs is reached;
