22 February 2010 If an individual is unmarried, can he claim an exemption u/s. 80C towards life insurance premium for his parents, dependent brother & sisters.

- An Individual himself.
- His/ her spouse and
- any child of such individual.

Hence, deduction can't be claimed for parents/ brother / sister.
