Dr. for Debit?

13 November 2008 We are using Cr. for Credit & Dr. for Debit but 'Debit' does not letter 'r'. Is there any logic/reason behind this?

13 November 2008 Cr is not for Credit but for Credit Recorded & similarly Dr for Debit Recorded.
