Does transportation charges paid come under 194c ?

29 October 2012 company has transportation charges ,my querry is ,whether company is obliged to pay TDS under 194c.

29 October 2012 No, if the Transporter provides a valid PAN,TDS wouldn't be deducted.

But if he does not have PAN number in that case TDS would be applicable @ 20% (or at actual, whichever is higher).

30 October 2012 If the Amount paid is within the Monetary Limits you are not required to deduct TDS
further, as explained by Mr. Sunny
If the Transporter provides Valid PAN then no need for TDS
