21 August 2010 In simple and layman's language Dematerialsation of shares mean Conversion of Shares in Paper form to paperless form. In the process of dematerialisation the share certificate is done away with and and the shares are held in a pass book or bank statement mode. similar to holding money in a saving/current bank account. When you sell the shares you have to issue slips just like you issue cheque.
