Demand when return filed manually

20 June 2017 I found a mail for demand by the IT department even when the return was filed offline. is it the practice these days..and Whether the demand is justified?

20 June 2017 could not understand whats the issue here. Doesn't matter how the return was filed. If there is a tax payable, then the demand is justified. Income-tax department has been reconciling the offline returns into a unified outstanding demands system. So if anything is pending, it will show up. Kindly contact your jurisdictional AO if you believe that the demand is not as per law.
