03 April 2011 According to ICSI , if a student appears in all four examinations of foundation and fails . BUT OBTAINS > 60 % marks in any subject , he will be exempted from appearing in that subject in next three attempts .

My question is -> if a student obtains more than 60 % marks EACH in two subjects but fails in remaining two examinations, will he be given exemption in one or in two examinations out of four examinations in next three foundation examinations ??

06 April 2011 If u get exemption with scoring 60 marks or more in any one or two or three subjects nd appears in all subjects nd get a minimum of 25marks in remaining subjects then all 1/or 2/ or 3 subjects will b exempt for u in next 3 attempts.
2) if suppose u get 60 or more in first attmpt nd again out of remaing 3 subjcts again got 60 in any subjct out of three. Then u hv to decide whch subjct u want exemption. Nd it will b there for 3 attempts.

06 April 2011 Respected Sir,

Thanks for replying , but meanwhile I have enquired from ICSI .

I have received following reply on 4-4-2011 from ICSI

QUOTE"
We wish to clarify once again that a candidate who has got exemption in any paper(s) of Foundation Programme Examination on the basis of securing 60% or more marks is required to obtain 40% marks in each remaining paper and fifty per cent marks in the aggregate of the remaining subjects at one sitting within the next three following exam inations.

06 April 2011 Dear Student

This has reference to the trailing e-mails. Please note that as per Company Secretaries Regulations, 1992, as in force a candidate who has appeared in all the subjects of Foundation Programme and has obtained sixty per cent marks or above in any subject, but failed shall be declared to have passed in subsequent exam inations, if he obtains a minimum of forty per cent marks in each remaining subject and fifty per cent marks in the aggregate of the remaining subject at one sitting within the next three following exam inations.

Therefore criteria of obtaining minimum 25% marks in remaining paper (s) to become eligible for exemption in any subject(s) on the basis of securing 60% marks in one or two subject(s) is not applicable in Foundation Programme Examination.

In case you need any further clarification, please write to us directly instead of writing or seeking information from, unreliable sources.

With best wishes
