If you have purchased or constructed a a house property, stamp duty & registration charges and other expenses which are directly related to the transfer are allowed as a deduction under Section 80C. The maximum deduction amount allowed under this section is capped at Rs.1,50,000.
This deduction can only be claimed in the year the actual payment is made towards these expenses.
If you buy the property and pay its stamp duty and registration charge in April 2017 you can claim these expenses under section 80C only in FY 2017-18.

Yes Agree with Gopal sir, if you buy stamps that doesn't means you have purchased HP but when you do property papers complete and do registration in registrar office which will help you to claim your stamps charges & registration charges as 80C deduction. If it is in F.Y. 2017-18 then only you can calim in 17-18.
