Can a direct entry person be eligible to write the CA inter exam after completing nine months of articleship? One more thing,if the student is going to terminate articleship and is not interested in rejoining articleship again till the student clears the inter exam. Could the student be eligible to write the inter exam?

06 July 2024 Yes, a direct entry student can be eligible to write the CA Inter exam after completing nine months of articleship. According to the ICAI regulations, a direct entry student is required to undergo a minimum of nine months of practical training (articleship) before being eligible to appear for the CA Inter examinations.

Regarding termination of articleship and eligibility to write the CA Inter exam, here are the key points to consider:

1. **Minimum Articleship Requirement:** As per ICAI regulations, a direct entry student must complete at least nine months of articleship to be eligible to appear for the CA Inter exams. This is a mandatory requirement.

2. **Termination of Articleship:** If a student terminates their articleship before completing the mandatory nine months, they would not fulfill the eligibility criteria to appear for the CA Inter exams. In such a case, they would need to either complete the remaining months of articleship or rejoin articleship to fulfill the requirement.

3. **Eligibility After Termination:** If a student terminates articleship after completing the required nine months but does not wish to rejoin articleship until they clear the CA Inter exams, they remain eligible to appear for the exams provided they meet all other eligibility criteria (such as fulfilling the minimum study period and other requirements as per ICAI guidelines).

In summary, to write the CA Inter exams, a direct entry student must complete a minimum of nine months of articleship. If articleship is terminated prematurely, the student may need to rejoin or complete the required duration before becoming eligible again. Always refer to the latest guidelines from ICAI or consult with a registered training institute for specific details and advice tailored to individual circumstances.
