02 December 2009 can a CA not holding COP be engaged in full time occupation ( i.e., business, not contract of service/employment) other than chartered accountancy profession?

02 December 2009 Yes, otherwise what he will do if he is not engaged in the profession? COP is required only for full time practice. Part time practice already not allowed.

I am also a Chartered Accountant.

Are the restrictions as per CA Act and regulations, on engagements other than chartered accountancy for a CA is applicable only for full-time or part-time COP holders?

A non-COP holder can do business other than chartered accountancy profession, but this is possible only in his personal capacity or is possible in his professional capacity also? I am a bit confused, kindly clarify.

Part time COP means, the member in full time employment, holding COP for part-time practice provided council's prior permission is granted, i.e., members in part-time practice.

I have clarified on ICAI's website.
