02 July 2010 hello,
please guide me on this.
I changed my residential address recently and so i changed my residential details in my pan database with the incometax department through form no 49A.
I want to know whether i can file my return mentioning my new address or i need to do anything else...
thanking you......

02 July 2010 YOu can file ur return in new address as you have already filed for change in address on PAN.

If the ward of filing IT return remains the same then nothing to be done. Just simply file ur return in that ward only.

In case there is a change in ward then write a letter to the old ITO for transfer of file to the new ITO ward officer due to change in address and also C. C. it to the new ITO ward officer.

03 July 2010 i have checked some site that my ito ward has changed on account of new address, but it is within same city only.It is mandatory for me to give letter to AO or i can just file my IT return mentioning new address and with old ward or new ward without giving letter to AO????

03 July 2010 If they have already changed then the return may be accepted without the letter. If they dont accept then u will have to write the letter even if the same is in the same city.

So it depends upon the ITO accepting the return. Some accept some do not.

04 July 2010 If i file the return online, than i still i have to giv letter to new and old AO....

05 July 2010 For online return filing there is no need to give any letter since the ward has already been modified.

07 July 2010 I checked the incometax.gov.in, under AO code details, its still showing old AO code. but i have checked some ITO wards books, which shows that my new residentail address falls under new ito ward.
What do i need to do..Please suggest.
Can i just file the return online mentioning my new or old ITO ward(as u suggest) and mentioning my new address.
Can i do away with writing letter to old and new AO.
Thanking you......

07 July 2010 Dear Ankit
If the ITO has now the correct ward in its records then file the same with the new ward number and mentioning the new address only online.

To file online u do not need to give any letter for transfer of file.
