26 August 2011 THE AMOUNT OF SELF ASSESSMENT TAX FOR THE A.Y.2009-10 WAS PAID BY CASH IN THE BANK. NOW THE ASSESSING OFFICER IS DEMANDING THE SAME AMOUNT AS IT IS SHOWING THAT NOTHING IS PAID BY ASSESSEE.THE ASSESSEE DOES NOT HAVE PROOF OF PAYMENT AS HE HAS LOST THE CHALLAN, NOW WHAT TO DO TO RESOLVE THIS.

26 August 2011 You can approach the banker in writing & ask for either a copy of the payment challan or a certificate of payment being received. In case you do not receive any satisfactory response, you can approach the Banking Ombudsman
