22 July 2010 sir i am receiveng professional fees in cash so payer of cash payment asking me to affix a revenue stamp on the cash receipt issued by me so what should i do should i affix a stamp on the receipt or not. i am receiving payment so why should i affix a revenue stamp because i am not payer but i am receiver

Your contention is correct.
If the payer wants to be authentication, then he should make a receipt affixing revenue stamp on which yours duty to authenticate it only.
