I have completed my CA in Nov 2008 and CFP in Jan 2012.
I have been working with one of the private company in financial services since last 4 years but i am not satisfied with the type of work i am doing which mostly involves reconcilations. Though it contains some part of accounting and ERP review and recommendations. Meanwhile, I have got an offer from one of the leading private bank for the position of relationship manager - SME with an annual salary of Rs 7 lacs. Just wondering if the career as a relationship manager will be a good choice being a CA or there are better choices for Chartered Accountants.
What is your role and anticipated career progression in your current company?
You must benchmark this against the banking opportunity. If your aspiration is to build a career in banking- this is a good entry point. A relationship manager who proves himself, can grow to manage regions, other retail assets / liabilities within the bank and so on. Ensure that the bank you are accepting the role with is solid, has a superb track record and also ask about career progression.
