Can We Take Credit of Service Tax ?

07 April 2010 i m liable to pay service tax for the period 01.03.2010 to 31.03.2010 but i have received a bill dated 30.03.2010. can i pay the service tax after adjustment like this service tax recd. - service tax paid. = payable to govt.
