In one of my client's place, while checking the payroll calculation, I noticed that the company was using a different slab for professional tax. On asking ther employee,he replied saying that that was the slab applicable to that district.
Now my query is, does professional tax, being a state subject, have different slab for different district i that state itself?
This company is in Kanchipuram district, tamil Nadu. My opinion is that Tamil Nadu as a whole has a single slab for professional tax. Am I right?

Hi I need a clarification. Last year my company was acquired by US based company. During that time, we were given a medical reimbursement of one month basic at end of the year. But the current management is saying that it is not legal. I am surprised by the comment as old management was doing this for 10 long years. In that Case does the Auditor has not checked the accounts properly?
Is it illegal? Can anyone shed some light on this...

I am having my own Proprietorship firm; we are basically dealing in advertisement contract with radio industry;
Case: we have deducted a Tax @2% while making a payment to the company in the month of march 2011;
i want to know which form/challan shall i use for the deposit the Tax; which form shall i use to furnish the return of the same? and the due dates?

I have purchased a flat and have taken a loan from hdfc. Bank, I am claiming tax rebate for principal repayment as well as interest component under sec 24.my loan duration is 17 years out of which 5 years have passed. However, I would like to know the following:
01.As of now, I am repaying only Rs 72,000 towards interest component, which I would like to increase to max Rs 1,50,000.How will it benefit me? My aim to do this is to get maximum deduction benefit under sec 24. Can I only increase repayment of interest component keeping the principal component same.
02.Do I continue to get the tax benefit till entire loan is repaid or is there any time line up to which I can claim tax deduction.
03.Does bank charge any extra fees if i have to change emi?
