I do not have knowledge abt stock market, can u provide me basic knowledge on stock market to understand it and what other things I do to gain knowledge on it ?

Stamp Duty

In case of transfer of shares is the stamp duty .25% of the market value ? If the consideration is more than the Market Value then would the stamp duty be .25% of the cansideration ?

I ave read in a article that Sensex is being calculated based on particular companies (30 companies i think).

Could you please tell me what are those companies?

Why sensex is being calculated only based on these companies?

what is marked to market?

Dear Experts, please help me solve this problem :
"yesterday MR.X sold six months futures on BSE stock index of 3700. today the BSE sensex closed at 3860 and BSE stock index future closed at 3720. MR.X gets a call from his broker, who reminds him that his futures positition is marked to market each day. is the broker asking MR.X to pay the money or is he about to offer to pay MR.X"

is there any rules that in m.f. that at the time of declaration of dividend tha mf's NAV should no below the its NFO prise.????

eg. nfo price 10 rs. current prise 8.75 rs. is in this scheme amc declare dividend?????
