Stamp Duty

Hi All,

This is Satyanarayana.P i have a query regarding Stamp Duty

1.When we have to Pay Stamp duty on shares?

A. At the time of Issue Of Shares? or
B. At the time of Transfer of Shares?

Because somewhere it is saying that there is no stamp duty on issue of shares, the stamp duty attracts only when the shares transfered. which is Right?

re: necessity of trading acct

Hello, I am aware that if i want to buy and sell shares on a daily, weekly etc basis, I need to maintain an online trading account for the actual transactions of buying/selling, and a demat acct to "hold" the shares.

If however, I only buy shares of say company ABC, today (Feb 2, 2010) and i dont sell them at all, and only retain them, and wish to sell after another 5 years, do i still need a trading account now?

what would be the procedure in that case?

thank you.

Company which doesn't want to get merged with other one, can protect itself by self acquiring its shares to more 51% from the market, then how it is possible for other company to acquire that? Plz clear the strategy from both company's point of view i.e. how a company protect itself from takeover and how a company can takeover other one against its willingness. plz give ref to Arcelor-Mittal also.
