16 December 2012 When Branch Audit is exempted?

16 December 2012 Reference to branch audit in the audit report: Under Section 228(4) of the Companies Act, 1956, the Central Government has formulated Companies (Branch Audit Exemption) Rules, 1961 to exempt any branch office of a company from being audited having regard to quantum of activity.
These Rules require that, if during the said financial year, the average quantum of activity of the branch does not exceed Rs.2 lakhs or 2% of the average of total turnover and the earnings from other sources of the company as a whole, whichever is higher, the said branch is exempted
