The audit done by the service tax department is to ensure the accuracy of credit claimed and Output service tax liabiltiy. Normally they chek the following records:- 1. Bills of service 2. Input Service bills which are claimed for credit 3. Monthly payment challans and ST returns
The audit officers also check Balance sheet and the audit report. If are there are other receipts which are not subject to service tax, the same shall be enquired by them but u have to only explain the same.
