10 November 2007 How is Ahmedabad for articleship

10 November 2007 Dear Sushant,
All places are good for articleship. ICAI President Mr. Sunil Talati himself is from Ahmedabad.
You have your results fast approaching. (By December 1).
I think you should contact firms now onwards. There is very good scope as Ahmedabad has good business centre and proximity to Gandhinagar (Capital Of Gujarat) makes it all the more important. Amul at Ananad is also near one.

10 November 2007 Sir, thanx for the advise.U know i live in kathmandu nepal. You told "I think you should contact firms now onwards." Could you kindly tell me the procedure(as per new scheme) how to contact CA firms, firstly how to find them; do they accept Nepalese intern??What are the criteria they are likely to set for selection??

My frend was telling me that sites like Naukri.com also helps to find articleship. Is it true??(I am finding it hard to swallow)

11 November 2007 Dear Sushant,
There is no racism in CA. It is the highest profession. At Ahmedabad, you should go to Ahymedabad Office of ICAI and obtain list of firms. Also, there notices are put up for vacancies of articleship. You can contact there.
Secondly, which area are you going to stay? Navrangpura and C.G.Road are expensive areas but they are business centres. You should try for hostel? Or are you having contacts or friends?
Also, do not stay alone in the rented flat if you stay at distant area.
Lastly, a personal question. Why have you chosen Ahmedabad?
Your friend needs to know that Naukri.com has no relationship with Articleship.
Happy Diwali.
Good Luck.

11 November 2007 Well, my aunt (mother's younger sibling ) is settled in ahmedabad. Of course, i wont stay with her; but she told Ahm. is a cool place for CAs, esp. articled assisstants. Weel, this is my first try; so i am completely ignorant abt this.

Anyway; can we see the "there notices are put up for vacancies of articleship" on the icai.org

11 November 2007 Dear Sushant,
You must visit Ahmedabad now itself as only twenty days are left for the results. As you have no idea about the place, you must know where to join, where to put up and how to commute. It is a good place. My Nanaji (Mummy's father) stayed there from 1986 to 2000. I have sweet memories of it. But at the same time to start as an Articled Assistant you will have to be well aware of the place. Vacancies List is possible from ICAI at Ahmedabad and otherwise you will have to walk in.
Coaching is good at Ahmedabad. Before joining please do keep in touch. I know my friend who has good contact with the Professors of the Classes at Ahmedabad.
Lastly, I wish to tell you that Ahmedabad is a good city for stay but you may not like there to settle if you want to run. Bombay is the best place to run and make career as people state. I am not trying to demoralise you neither demarcating between the cities.
Good Luck.

11 November 2007 Is it true that without any formal interview there won't be enrolment into articleship? Does our academics from class 10-12 have any effect in our evaluation?

You have told "you may not like there to settle if you want to run"?Who wants to settle down there. It's that 3-4 yrs of articleship??

Do we have to pay money to the MIT for enrollment?
Does ICAI accredit coaching institutes also?
Is it compulsory we have to seek CA firms thru ICAI vacancy list(what if we/our parents know sb personally?

12 November 2007 You can join without interview if you have a proper reference. Then it will be informal chat that join and that's it.
Academics is not considered.
No money exchanges hands. It is illegal. You will receive stipend on monthly basis.
ICAI does not accredit coaching institutues. It is not compulsory to go through ICAI.
If your parents know then it answers your first question and seconds my first answer.
Good Luck.
