The registration and notarization of Form 102 (Articleship Registration Form) are essential steps in the CA articleship process. Here’s how the timeline you mentioned might impact your final examination:
1. **Registration Timing**: Registering for articleship in March 2020 due to lockdowns and then notarizing Form 102 in March 2021 could potentially lead to a delay in the start of your articleship period. This delay may affect the total duration of your articleship, which is typically for a minimum of 3 years.
2. **Impact on Final Examination**: For CA final examinations, there are certain criteria regarding the completion of articleship, such as the minimum duration and continuous period of training. If there was a significant delay in starting your articleship due to external factors like lockdowns, it's important to ensure that the total duration meets the required minimums as per ICAI regulations.
3. **Principal’s Advice**: Your principal indicating that it's not needed now might imply that they consider the delayed start date acceptable within the guidelines of ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India). However, it's crucial to verify this with the ICAI guidelines directly or through your regional office to confirm that your articleship will meet the necessary requirements for appearing in the final examinations.
4. **Seeking Guidance**: Given the specific nature of your situation, it would be beneficial to consult with your principal again or contact the ICAI regional office directly. They can provide precise guidance on how your articleship start date and duration align with the requirements for appearing in the final examinations.
5. **Documentation and Compliance**: Ensure that all documentation related to your articleship registration and duration is in order. If there were any exceptional circumstances (like lockdowns) causing delays, keep records and communications with your principal for reference and potential verification by ICAI if required.
In summary, while the delay in registering and notarizing Form 102 may have been due to external factors, it's essential to ensure that your articleship period aligns with ICAI regulations to avoid any issues when preparing for your final examinations. Confirm with ICAI or your regional office for specific guidance tailored to your circumstances.
