A Salaried person take VRS in 2000 and after that received monthly pension. in f.y. 2009-10 he is received arrears of pension Rs.72411. this amount is taxable in his hand or not?

Arrears of pension received is taxable as salary income. If details are available regarding the F.Y to which the arrears pertain to, relief u/s 89(1) can be claimed.
