13 May 2010 Can a NRI with person of indian origin status be appointed as Managing director of Indian Company (Pvt Co)?

13 May 2010 Yes, he can become.

The Comapnies Act 1956 no where prohibit appointment of NRI as a Managing Director

20 May 2010 Agree with Expert Vanita.
However, my view is that he can be appointed as MD, but he is of Indian Origin and is NRI means that he had or will stay out of India for more than 182 days. (Unless if he permanently come back to India).
In such case, won't this affect the requirement of attending the office and involvement of the day to day affairs be raised, since MD is like a regular employee of the company, .??
