17 February 2014 My father's age is 64 years. And last year February 2013 his bypass surgery of heart made. Medical expense was reimburse in my salary in fy2013-14 is Rs.96000. Now can I claim it u/s80ddb? How much? And I am filling my e returns. What is the procedure for the deduction?

18 February 2014 Specified diseases are provided in Rule 11DD.

Heart surgery is not mentioned in the said rule.

Accordingly expenditure on heart surgery is NOT eligible for deduction u/s 80DDB.
