80dd - some clarification requested

This query is : Resolved

24 July 2012 My mother has been walking with the help of a walker since 1995, after she had a fall and a couple of operations in the thigh and spinal cord. She cannot walk without that. Of late, she has been put on a cast in the leg, as she could not walk. Due to old age (she is 82 now), she is not able to hear well either. In addition, she is undergoing treatment for diabetes, blood pressure and osteoporosis (calcium deficiency in the bones). Does her condition allow application of 80DD section in my IT assessment? she is totally dependent on me and does not have any separate returns for IT.

Thanks for any clarification. Appreciate your assistance.

25 July 2012 YES!

But you must obtain a certificate from Doctor of a Govt Recognized Hospital etc. Surely the Doctor(s) will issue certificate.
