17 April 2011 How an individual can file his income tax return for the AY 2010-11 on estimated basis if he is doing the business of engineering & survey consultant services and he has not maintained the account books for the FY 2009-10 and his net income from business is above Rs. 35,00,000/-

18 April 2011 If a person is providing engineering & survey consultant services, he is earning professional income from a specified profession. Since his net income is above Rs. 35,00,000/-, he is required to compulsorily maintain books of accounts as specified in Rule 6F of Income Tax Rules. In this case, he is also required to get his books of accounts of profession audited by a qualified CA in whole time practice. Accordingly, he can file his ITR on the basis of audited figures only.
