Wrong tan entered in income tax return (online) + notice

15 June 2013 Hi ,

For the assesment year (2012-13), I have filled Income Tax return online. By mistake, I had entered wrong TAN no. of employee. Like, Instead of MUMC01530F , I have entered MUMC03015F.

Now, I got Income Tax notice to pay tax as because of wrong TAN , my TDS was not taken in consideration .

Let me know guys, what I need to do now? Apart from this I was expecting Refund , now Income Tax department want me to pay penalty.

Please help me guys, Thanks in Advance.

15 June 2013 YOU WILL HAVE TO FILE A RECTIFICATION U/S 154 CLAIMING YOUR FAULT..
YOU WILL GET YOUR REFUND SURELY IF THERE IS NO OTHER MISTAKE APART FROM WHAT YOU MENTIONED.

Can I feel Rectification U/S 154 online?

15 June 2013 SIR YOU WILL HAVE TO LOGIN TO THE WEBSITE INCOMETAXINDIAEFILING.GOV.IN
AND THEN UNDER MY ACCOUNT GO TO RECTIFICATION REQUEST AND FILE YOUR RECTIFICATION.

Sorry for late reply. I checked the status of my Rectification request online. Currently it is showing following status :

"Rectification processed refund determined and sent out to Refund Banker".

I am assuming, I will get the refund soon.
