Using ca prefix before gmcs and icai membership.

This query is : Resolved

24 August 2016 Dear Sir,
I just qualified by passing my CA Final in May 2016. Due to my work schedule , I have not yet completed the GMCS course and as a result of which, I haven't been able to apply for membership as an Associate member with the ICAI. I need to know whether I can use the prefix CA before my name before applying for membership as well as represent myself to others as a Chartered Accountant(Not in Practice). Whether there is any Professional Misconduct angle to the above mentioned scenario. Any response would be appreciated.

Thanking You,
Kind Regards

24 August 2016 Dear Raunak,

U cannot use prefix 'CA' until and unless your name has been entered in the register of members.

Its a professional misconduct.

Hope your query is resolved

24 August 2016 I would also like to know, whether it is mandatory to do GMCS if you don't intend applying for ICAI membership, and what are the consequences of not doing GMCS at all.As far as i know, If you work in the Industry/ Big 4s, It doesn't make a difference whether you have a membership no. or not. Please Clarify.

24 August 2016 Dear Raunak,

If u work in big 4 also they send the information to icai in form 2 and when icai will response that membership number is not issued it will be a big problem for you.

Further while joining u have to mentioned that membership number received or applied for and they will cross check from icai.

So don't take risk and just complete your gmcs and apply for membership number

Kindly like if my response has helped you
