Unclaimed tds

This query is : Resolved

14 November 2013 TDS for F.Y. 2010-11 = Rs.4000/- was unclaimed till date. whether we can claim it in current financial year?

15 November 2013 if the income against which this TDS was offered for tax in AY 2011-12, then you cannot claim TDS now. It should have been claimed in that year itself.

15 November 2013 Agree its time barred,
you can't claim it now...

15 November 2013 Sudhish, you may approach related ITO of your TDS ward. They have the power to refund it.

15 November 2013 Senthil that applies to deductors not the deductees. For deductee power lies with Commissioner under 119(2).

15 November 2013 then what's the solution sir

15 November 2013 there is no cost effective solution. application under 119(2) is a complicated and time consuming method which would involve large costs. So no point in chasing this small tax amount.

15 November 2013 thank you sir for your valuable advice

15 November 2013 you are welcome.

15 November 2013 Nikhil, I gave the solution as he is a Deductor. Now only I knew that he is a deductee. Then your point is correct. Sudhish, you just forget the TDS amount.
