I would like to know about the initial steps to be undertaken to constitute a charitable trust in Kerala. The stamp papers, minimum trustees required. Could you please provide me a brief advice on the same? I would be highly obliged if you provide me a link to any of the websites to get an elaborate view.

In kerala a trust can be formed in many ways. U can register a trust as a socity under Societies regn act 1860 with Dt Registrar or u can register a trust deed as a doc with sub-registrar under regn act 1908.Only one person is required to form a trust and he can be the trustee also. But a person cannot be a trustee and beneficiary at the same time.

First of all you have to get the trust deed drafted and registered with the Charity Commissioner. In the trust deed you have to mention in the main clause the nature of your activities.
The minimum number of trustees should be 2. The corpus fund should not exceed 1000 otherwise you have to pay stamp duty on the said amount
