13 September 2012 Dear Sir,

I am a Defence employee.Now I am posted at Darjeeling West Bengal.The department has provided me the Form 16 for A.Y.2012-13.But they had no considered the transport allowance of Rs.9600.
Sir, I want to know from you that Can i Claim a Transport Allowance of Rs.800 P.M. to exempt under Income Tax of my ITR for the A.Y. 2012-13.Please help me.

13 September 2012 If they have not mentioned in form 16 then it means that you are not paid any such allowance. In absence of such payment the question of claiming deduction for transport allowance does not arise.
