I am a Govt employee . The employer is supposed to deduct the TDS on salary . Due to the lack of coordination between the various deptts eg acconts , audit , HR etc , the TDS return is not filed properly . The employees suffer because the IT deptt does not "accept" the TDS figure more than what is reflected in the TIN network . Can the employee ,( instead of getting the tax deducted from the salary ) , deposit the tax ( periodically ,in 2-3 installments ) in the bank ? He can submit the challan deposit reciepts to the accts deptt (preparing the salary bills ) . Is this procedure acceptable ?

According to section 192, It is employer responsibility to calculate proper tax of the employees and deduct monthly the same and deposit to the Govt. The above said procedure totally opposite to sec.192.

An individual is always allowed to pay his advance tax. You can calculate your tax payable and pay it in installment and submit along with the declaration to your employer who should consider this also. In this case you can avoid TDS on salary as well.
