13 July 2010 if an employee does not submit his/her PAN no. whether is it necessary to deduct tax on salary of employee @ 20% even if his/her total income is less than exemption limit. this is with reference to section 206AA.

13 July 2010 section 206AA reads as any person entitled to receive any sum or income or amount, on which tax is deductible under Chapter XVIIB

Till the time amount does not exceed the exemption limit no need to deduct tax.
