16 June 2014 Is it compulsory to deduct TDS on commission (Rs.70000/-) if it is prop. business and accounts are not getting audited (turnover Rs.40 Lacs). please guide.

16 June 2014 you are giving turnover details of the deductor or the deductee?

please note that if the deductor is a proprietor with turnover less than 44AB limit, then no need to deduct tds anyways.

the status of the deductee is not relevant. if the deductor is an individual with turnover exceeding 44AB limit, tds is to be deducted if a single payment under 194C exceed Rs 30000 or if total payment to the deductee exceeds Rs 75000
