TDS on Civil Work

23 October 2008 Is TDS required on civil work done in company(ie maintenace of building for repairs of canteen]in which materials purchased like bricks, iron, cement etc from different suppliers and
if the amount (1)exceed 20000(individually) or 50000 aggregate for supplier each
(2) does not exceed 20000/50000 respectly for each supplier.

24 October 2008 PLease clarify whether you are referring to purchase of building materials, but job done in house using your own employees.

03 November 2008 Procurement of various materials are in the nature of purchase contracts. TDS is not applicable to pure purchase transaction.

Based on the information, I feel, no TDS provision is attracted.
