if we are a manufacturing unit can we take a VAT credit on material purchased for construction or repair of factory building which we are showing as Building (WIP)? can anyone help me out?

No, as construction is not a manufacturing activity irrespectively whether you are showing it as a Building (WIP) OR Building (completed and ready for use)
