29 June 2009 Can a company's Balance Sheet be signed on any holiday(Sunday)?? If that company has already filed income tax return then what will solution from income tax point view as well as ROC point of view as Company has not filed form 23 AC & ACA yet.

Balance sheet can be signed on holiday or sunday. There is no problem as far as income tax is concerned.
Experts plz clarify as regards company law.

30 June 2009 Hi Vandana,

Normally date of signing of balance sheet is the date on which board of directors approves the Annual Accounts.

And such BM may be held on public holiday for sure. There is no prohibition in company law regarding holding of BM on holiday.

To conclude i wiuld say Balance sheet can be signed on holiday or sunday.

30 June 2009 Remember one thing an adjourned BM can not be held on a public holiday by virtue of section 288.
