Service tax on rent

07 December 2012 Please clarify whether service tax on rent paid had to be borne by the landlord or the tenant ?. as per law who is supposed to bear the service tax .

07 December 2012 It is the Landlord's duty to recover service tax from the tenant and then deposit the same with concerned authorities. Thus the tenant has to bear the tax.
