My brother is Doing Full time MBA course from AIMS institute, Pune which is affiliated to Punjab University.
The Institute has asked all the students to pay service tax on all fees except university fees and including cost of laptop, stationery etc....
The institure has given a printout from Indiabudget.nic.in - Chapter V on service tax and highlighted the explanation inserted to clause zzc wherein "commercial training or coaching centre" is defined.
Please guide whether the institute is correct in their stand or is there any remedy available.

in my understanding the establishments which issues a certificate recognised under law is not liable for ST at all as they are not the defined Servic eprovider. Institute should seek a written legal opinion froma nexpert in the region.
