Service tax by consignee

24 October 2012 As our unit is registered in Excise but not in service tax. On Transported copy for input material we found a remarks that "Service tax will be paid by consignee". whether we are responsible to pay service tax?????, if yes then what is the procedure to follow as we are not registered in service tax (No Service tax registration No.)
Please advice.........

You have to get Serv Tax registration number by registering with loca service tax office & you have to start paying Service Tax.

However you can adjust your CENVAT credit agst ST liability.
