24 September 2010 We got Service tax regn for renting of immovable property.

We had collected rent for 2009-10 is Rs.7lacks and service tax also paid @ 10.3%.

Now only we know about the emeptiom limit is Rs.8l.

Please let me know how we can get the refund? If there is any option?

24 September 2010 If you have collected the service tax amount from service reciver on invoice, same has to be deposited. There is no question of refund of Service Tax.

24 September 2010 Claiming the Basic Exemption Rs.10 Lakh is the Assessee option, but once the service tax charged and collected without claiming the exemption, you need to pay the tax
