Whether rounding off provision as mentioned in Schedule VI is mandatory or optional?

Please clarify

15 September 2012 It is not compulsory to apply rounding off and a company can continue to disclose full figures. But, if the same is applied, the rounding off requirement should be complied with as per revised schedule VI.
