it depends, if salary break up of the employer is in place, then it would be applicable for all the employees and then you have to follow, and;
if not, then you can make it to suit you to minimise the tax liability...

IT DEPENDS ON COMPANY'S POLICY. IF THERE IS ANY POLICY TO DETERMINE SALARY BREAKUP OF ALL EMPLOYEE , THEN YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW IT. IF COMPANY ALLOW TO MAKE SALARY BREAK UP BY EMPLOYEE HIMSELF ,THEN HE CAN MAKE IT.
