23 May 2009 Sir,

Please let me know the implication if we do not affix REVENUE STAMP on receipt of more than Rs. 5000/-.

Except legal validity of receipt, is there any penality or other charges for violation of section 2(23) of THE INDIAN STAMP ACT, 1899.

23 May 2009 If it is like an odd case, Stamps & Registration Department may not bother you.

But if not affixing Revenue Stamps is followed as a practice, Stamps & Registration Department would object. There is provision for the Department officials to conduct inspections
