Sir the mistake was that only that we have fled the return of AY 2009-10 in ITR 1 form on which the printed date is AY 2008-09

06 August 2010 First you see what is the reason for issuing the demand notice, if it is correct you pay the same and close the issue

06 August 2010 find out the reason from the intimation U/S 143(1) which you recd from IT Dept.accordingly apply for rectification U/S 154.

06 August 2010 Please analyze the intimation carefully and compare with your return to find out the reason for demand. If the demand is valid then settle by paying it and file a letter along with challan of payment. If you think there is any error in intimation because of some mistake or omission the file petition for rectification of Intimation u/s 154.

07 August 2010 Then in my view you should contact your assessing officer and explain him the exact situation as it is a very rare case.
