To become a Research Analyst and Investment Adviser, a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline is the minimum educational qualification required. However, a postgraduate degree or professional qualification in finance, economics, or business management may be preferred or considered advantageous.
In addition to educational qualifications, SEBI also requires the applicant to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in activities related to securities market or financial products or services. The experience may include working as an employee of a registered intermediary or as an independent investment adviser or research analyst.
Furthermore, the applicant needs to pass a certification examination conducted by NISM (National Institute of Securities Markets) for the respective certificates, i.e., Research Analyst Certification Examination and Investment Adviser Level 1 Certification Examination.
Therefore, a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com) may fulfill the minimum educational qualification requirement to apply for the Research Analyst and Investment Adviser Certificate, but the candidate must also meet the other criteria prescribed by SEBI, including experience and passing the certification examination.
