Please suggest me what is the procedure for registration of VAT & CST in Maharashtra State.
Also is it compulsory to take VAT & CST no for new company?

12 April 2012 registration is to be taken only if

For Importer
if turnover crosses 1 lac , with sale of mininmum Rs.10000/- of taxable goods

For Non Importers
If TO crosses 5 lac , with min. Rs. 10000/- taxable Sale.
