the name changing procedure in India is very simple. Just need to make an affidavit before a 1st class Magistrate and advertisement regarding name change in a news paper.
The steps to follow for changing the name is given below.
1. You will have to submit an application to District Magistrate along with the required documents.
The documents are:
a. Signed affidavit of the applicant stating the reason to change the name on non judicial stamp paper attested by notary. b. Two clear photographs c. Educational Certificate. d. Certificate from local police station to make sure that there are no adverse records.
2. After the District Magistrate completes his inquiry and finds you suitable for the name change process, will issue the order to applicant.
3. Then, along with the order of District Magistrate, applicant will have to send the application to Commissioner of Government Printing Press for printing the advertisement. The fees of publishing the name in the gazette varies from place to place. But, the average total cost would be in below mentioned link.
